dunsley wood burning stoves
For many years Dunsley dealt mainly in the manufacture of solid fuel open fires, boilers and gas fires, however as tastes change and heating needs evolved Dunsley have recognised this fact and created two types of multi-fuel stoves. The Highlander range of stoves which includes the Highlander 3, 5, 7 and 8 and the Yorkshire stove which has been recognised as a market leader in its use of 'Clean burn' technology.
Both these stoves are manufactured to the highest standards using the most relevant methods and the highest quality materials and components. Stoves are technical pieces of furniture that need to be installed by a competent person. HETAS (the solid fuel equivalent to CORGI) assess and train companies to install solid fuel appliances to current building regulations.Once the correct appliance has been chosen and installed and the correct chimney parts used the installer can then ‘sign off' the installation giving you a certificate. You will need this certificate when a) you sell your house or b) if you have an insurance claim caused by the stove or its installation.
Highlander 3
As with the Highlander-7 and 5 the Highlander-3 has been designed to give you cleaner burn and superb efficiency. Its slim appearance and superb air wash gives it an appearance to be desired. The air wash and primary air controls are designed to be precisely controlled, to allow maximum efficiency to be obtained and control outputs to your requirements. The Highlander-3 is also fitted as standard with a superb shaker grate.
This enables logs or any other solid fuel to be burnt at maximum efficiency and is very easy and clean to operate. A non shaker grate model is also available, with the design advantages of the Highlander-3 but without the shaker mechanism. This gives you a very good stove at a reduced price. You will of course have to de-ash as required with the hooked poker provided.
The Highlander-3 is available with matching canopy, on request. This can be removed or replaced at any time. The Highlander-3 has interchangable top or rear flue outlets fitted as standard, to take 125mm flue pipe.
Highlander 5
The Highlander-5 has been developed to increase the choice of the Householder, using the same superb burning technology as the Highlander-7 . Same air wash system. Same shaker gate system only slightly smaller, but can still take logs up to 280mm long. Same range of suitable fuel. Same metallic black finish. Solid brass handles as standard, with black handles available on request.
The Highlander-5 is different from the Highlander-& as follows - the overall size is smaller, this has enabled the design of the door to be altered, so that on the Highlander-5 there is only one door to open for re-fuelling and removing ashes. This also means that the safety precaution to prevent overfiring is automatically provided for.
Highlander 8
What sets the Highlander-8 apart from the 3, 5 and 7 are the two cast iron doors with large viewing windows, clean lines and a classic appearance. A wide door opening and large fire bed capacity, enables you to load the fire box with good sized logs of up to 460mm or 18" in length.
The Highlander-8 has a superb air wash system designed to keep the glass clean by diverting a warm flow of air directly over the surface of the glass. Each door has its own primary air controls. These control the amount of fuel being burnt and can also be closed down for overnight burning of fossil fuels.
The Yorkshire
Emissions from the Yorkshire are so low that it very easily complies with the clean air act. Independent laboratory tests show efficiencies of over 70% on a whole range of fuels including wood.
All this has been achieved on the Yorkshire without using catalyst combusters, which are very expensive to replace and can easily become damaged if coal or impure wood is burnt. Cleanburning is also better
